Walk Festival is a unique Western Sydney Charity Walk Event offering more than just a race or challenge.  This April, Blacktown Stadium will play host to a transformative experience that enhances mental wellbeing through community and connection.

With events ranging from a community 10km walk, to 50km team challenges or testing your endurance with a 100 km event, there’s a place for everyone.

Walk Festival offers an action-packed weekend of entertainment and activities that both spectators and event participants can enjoy, all happening in one location at Blacktown International Sports Park.

On Saturday, enjoy a DJ in the booth, a high-energy Zumba Hour, an impressive Martial Arts demonstration, and dynamic cheerleading performances.  Kids will love the fitness games, petting zoo, and jumping castles, while spectators can take in vibrant cultural dance performances.

The excitement continues on Sunday, with another lively DJ set, live music from a band or singer, and a relaxing open-air movie to close the evening.

All of this fun helps raise funds for vital mental health initiatives in Western Sydney, making it a weekend of entertainment with a purpose.

A Movement For Mental Health

Walk Festival is not just another walking event; it’s a movement. Every dollar raised flows directly back into the Western Sydney community, funding vital youth programs and workshops.

Inclusive and Engaging

With multiple walking challenges available, there’s something for everyone! From seasoned walkers to families, everyone can participate in their own way as an individual or even as a team charity walk corporate entrant.

About The Founder: Chris Barton

SIA 378 684x1024

In 2017, Chris Barton embarked on a deeply personal journey, designing and completing extreme walking challenges to push his physical and mental limits, all while raising awareness and funds for causes close to his heart, particularly mental health.

His impressive achievements include a 95 km non-stop walk from Wollongong to Sydney, a challenging 125 km journey around Penrith’s Nepean River, and an impressive 130 km trek from Katoomba to Manly. Among his most demanding challenges was a recent 30-hour, 160 km walk completed in April 2024, which served as the test event for Walk Festival. These walks have pushed the limits of his endurance and determination.

However, the greatest achievement for Chris hasn’t been the personal milestones or the funds raised, but the sense of community that has blossomed around his efforts. Family, friends, and even strangers have joined him, shared their stories, and supported one another, fostering resilience and mental well-being.

This journey has since evolved into Step Into Action, a movement focused on promoting mental health and well-being through charity walk challenges and community-driven festivals. By joining Step Into Action, you become part of a growing community, helping to prioritise mental wellness and ensuring no one faces their struggles alone.

Why Support Walk Festival?

With 1 in 5 Australians experiencing a mental illness each year and 9 Australians losing their lives to suicide every day, the mental health crisis is real and pressing.

Step Into Action emerges as a powerful response to this crisis, offering a unique approach to enhance mental well-being through the simple act of walking together. Walking not only promotes physical health but also fosters emotional and psychological resilience, offering people a chance to connect, reflect, and find support within their community.

What makes Walk Festival-Blacktown stand out is its holistic approach to mental health. Unlike other mental health events, Walk Festival is not just about raising awareness; it’s about building community, solidarity, and strength through togetherness.

Most importantly, every dollar raised goes back into funding mental health programs in Western Sydney communities, ensuring that local support networks grow stronger and more resilient. Together, we can take steps to combat the mental health crisis and build a healthier, more connected community.
