Build a Bike - Outdoor Charity Team Building
One of our most successful experiences for over 15 years that has resulted in over 3500 bikes being donated to charity.
Get out of the office and into the sunshine with this team building event that will see teams of 4-6 people assigned a bike frame and battling other teams in multiple rounds to earn advantages (or disadvantages!) when it comes time to build their bike.
The Build a Bike activity culminates in teams building bikes that go to kids being supported by our charity partners. (And don’t worry, we get every bike checked by our bike mechanic before the kids receive it!)
Entertaining and highly rewarding, Build a Bike is the ideal team CSR experience.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens to the bikes at the end?
All bikes get checked over by our bike mechanics before making their way to some happy families.
Are there kids there to accept the bikes on the day?
No. We choose not to have kids onsite to accept the bike to protect their privacy, and allow parents the joy of gifting their child a new bike.
Can you set up at our office or venue?
For sure! We just need to chat with you to ensure that the space meets our safety requirements for this experience.
Can this be done indoors?
Yes, chat with our team about our indoor version of this experience.
The great thing about Build a Bike is you don’t need a venue!
We can suggest some great parks that are ideal for this event, or find an outdoor space near you, and we’ll supply our own mic and speaker so everyone can hear. With 90 minutes to complete the activity, your Build a Bike team event will be:
- Introduction and Charity Overview (10mins)
- Pump Up The Jam (10mins)
- Wheel of Wits (10mins)
- Pedal Power (10mins)
- Bucket Head (10mins)
- Bike Build (30mins)
- Wrap Up and Scores (10mins)
Hidden Door Experiences are proud to partner with Weave and Brainwave Bikes where the majority of the bikes are donated to assist families living throughout Sydney and Melbourne. If you have a charity of choice that you would like the bikes donated to, we’re more than happy so please chat with our team.
All of the challenges are bike-related to keep in theme.
Work up a sweat in Pump up the Jam and Pedal Power while you can flex your brainpower challenges like Bike Trivia and Bucket-Head.
The purpose is to be social, start laughing and connect with your team.
Team scores are tallied at the halfway point so that teams can begin building their bike based on how they are ranked on the leaderboard.
The final 30 minutes is where the hard work pays off and teams begin to build their bike.
If you aren’t handy with the tools or can’t build Ikea furniture, don’t sweat it, our team are onsite to help you along the way but we’ll also have a bike mechanic give each bike a thorough check before they go to their new recipients.
Whether you’re looking to give back, bring people together, or just get the team into the sunshine, Build a Bike is a memorable and meaningful way to do all three.
