The Apprentice - Project Based Team Building Activity

The idea of even creating a TV commercial, let alone in under 2 hours, is a daunting assignment.  And that’s how we like it.

The group is briefed that within 2 hours, small project teams will create their own ad.

That means plan, storyboard and filming.  Teams are randomly assigned a household item, or use your own values or vision.

As an alternative in The Apprentice, we can assign a charity to each team with the goal of creating a TV commercial that best communicates the goals of each charity.

The perfect creative, project-based team building activity.

Unfortunately rain and paint don't mix well. If it looks likely to rain we can either postpone your experience or move it to an indoor venue.

  • Embark on an exciting creative journey with our team building experience, The Apprentice. It all starts with a theme briefing and a showcase of real-world TV commercials, revealing different advertising styles and storytelling techniques.

Next, we form smaller project teams, each tasked with generating ideas based on their chosen item. You won’t be alone in this process – our on-site creative filmmakers and performers are there to guide and inspire your team.

With over 15 years of experience, our team excels at facilitating these sessions, ensuring everyone actively participates. Your team will then bring their ideas to life, storyboarding and utilising props and costumes to enhance their storytelling.

With filming complete, each team will write a detailed project plan for the editing team in The Apprentice, before the magic begins to turn 2 hours of hard work into a fun and polished video to playback.

For other creative team building activities, you can check out our range of innovative and learning-based team experiences.

  • PURPOSE
  • The end result is a collection of (often hilarious) TV commercials that your team created from scratch, but the purpose goes far deeper.

Collaborating in project teams comes with numerous benefits, such as identifying and utilising diverse skill sets within the group. This diversity results in a more comprehensive approach to problem-solving, offering broader perspectives and more holistic solutions to intricate challenges.

Teamwork enhances efficiency as tasks get distributed, leading to quicker and more streamlined results than individual efforts.

Team members exchange ideas, share knowledge, and provide constructive feedback, fostering more effective and efficient communication in The Apprentice. Especially in the context of remote work, establishing a framework for virtual and in-person teams is crucial to ensure seamless collaboration.

Teamwork within The Apprentice helps foster enhanced accountability, as the collective responsibility for project success ensures tasks are completed promptly. Embracing the power of project teams can drive success and efficiency in various work environments.

  • EDITING
  • Once all teams have filmed their scenes and completed their storyboards, our creative experts take over to edit the final video, which will be ready for playback within 24 hours.

If you’re in a rush, we offer editing onsite, with a turnaround as quick as 2 hours such as this video for Spinal Cord Injuries Australia, though some additional fees may apply.

This means you can have the completed videos, dust off your formalwear and get ready for the premiere of your hard work on the big screen!
